Here are highlights from the party. Thanks for the photos, Estelle!
Exciting note...Delanie and Emily will attend the same preschool next school year!
Another exciting note...Estelle turned, er, "29"! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ESTELLE! We had a great dinner out to celebrate and really enjoyed adult conversation, for once. Well, we did mostly talk about the kids, but we didn't have to stop our conversation to retrieve a dropped toy or wipe a messy face!
And Happy Birthday to friends Annie, Amy, Wendy, Gary, and Kim. Happy Birthday Maria and Mom (Caroline's), and anyone I might have forgotten. Oh, Happy Birthday to me in another week. And GET BETTER SOON to Ethel, who's been in the hospital. :( And Happy Saint Pattie's Day to you ahl!
Other Items of Note
Tuesday, March 13th...Email from Emily to Daddy...Dear Daddy,
Today Mommy took me to see the ducks at the pond by the Melbourne Library. I liked that, and really liked the little playground there. I got very good at walking across some high steps. I made friends with a little boy named Enrique. We laughed and had fun going down a steep slide, until I didn’t wait for Mommy to get to the other end. I went down on my belly like it was a water slide, shot off the edge, and landed on my chin in the sand, almost doing a flip but not quite. I scared Mommy to death ‘cause she said my body curved in almost a C shape, backwards, before I fell flat on my face in the sand. She says she’s 10 years younger…no wait a minute, that’s not it…she lost 10 years, or something like that.
I ended up with sand all over my face, in my eyes, up my nose, and in my lips and teeth. I only cried for a minute, and Enrique’s mom got wipes and water and Mommy cleaned me all up. I chewed on sand for a few minutes, but Mommy cleaned my teeth. Then I played with Enrique again, ‘cause he says he has Spiderman powers. Oh, and I sneezed all afternoon.
The End.
Luv,
Emily
Tuesday, March 6th...Email from Mommy to Friends and Family...
This morning we went to the gym, where Emily was in the babysitting room with Claire, another 2-year old Emily knows from preschool (different class). Well, they were giggling and hiding underneath the kids’ table when I went in to get Emily, sharing Emily’s water (which is a big Mommy no-no), and sharing a Kelloggs cereal bar (another big Mommy no-no). Obviously the babysitter wasn’t paying attention.
Then, as I was getting Emily’s things together (which were strewn across the room), I suddenly realized she was lying ON TOP OF Claire, trying to pull a toy out of her hands! Claire obviously knew how to fight back, thus the “play dead but hang on tight” tactic. So there I was kneeling on the floor, trying to peel a suddenly very strong Emily off of Claire, and Claire’s mom (who I don’t know) stepped into the room and loudly exclaimed, “what’s going on here?” I could have died of embarrassment. I told her the girls were struggling over a toy, and we both pulled the girls apart with almost a sucking sound. Her mom left the room after admonishing her daughter for chewing on her shirt (obviously a nervous tactic from being caught).
Next, we visit the crowded grocery store and throw a fit in the produce department. Then, forget naptime until Mommy has to put me in the car and DRIVE FOREVER! Later, after being caught for the umpteenth time trying to suck the toddler toothpaste out of the tube, we thought it would be fun to stick our face in the dog’s water dish and blow loud bubbles. That was before scooping up a drink (out of the dog’s water dish) with a cute little wine glass from our picnic set. Mind you, this is all while running around in yet another purple nightie because we refuse to be dressed in actual clothes while in the house. Ahhh, toddlerhood…
Fast forward to evening, when Daddy finally makes it home and Mommy shouts HURRAY!!! :D
That's all that's new. Ooh, except, Emily is 2 years, 9 months old, weighs 25 pounds, is 37.5 inches tall, and STILL wears size 18 month clothing. She's a skinny lilttle thing. Take care, everyone!
Love,
Caroline
