We've had a busy February so far. We've had several Chinese New Year celebrations (still waiting on a few photos), two birthday parties (Happy Birthday, Summer and Ashley!) and Emily's first Valentine's Day celebration at preschool. The kids made Valentine's Day mail boxes for their valentines--too cute! We're still struggling with our lousy camera, so please bear with us. Some of the photos might not be so great.

Highlights of Toddlerhood
What's Emily's favorite color, you ask? "Purple, purple, purple!" That's the chant we hear regularly. We wear a purple nightie to bed, while lounging around the house, we even bring it in the car on rides. And it doesn't even fit anymore! Her Wiggles nightie from Christmas she now wears inside out and like a snood on her head (see photo).
We have purple shoes, purple socks, Daddy washes the floors with purple Pine Sol, etc. We only drink purple juice, and we eat purple yogurt. We wear purple to preschool at least once a week. "Noshus" (Nigel the cat) wears a purple collar with a purple bell. We have a purple purse with purple jewelry, and a purple headband that we wear every day.
- So we're in the bathroom at the library one day and Mommy's, er, using the facilities while Emily helps (unrolling reams of toilet paper, repeatedly flushing the toilet, turning on the sink water). Suddenly, Emily proudly shouts, "Yeay!!! Dood dirl, Mommy!", which is exactly what I say to her when she pees in the potty! (well, without the 2-year old speech impediment.) Thankfully, noone was in the restroom with us or I would have died of embarassment.
- Our latest love is a stuffed, floppy puppy dog that Emily sleeps with curled in her arms. "Pupdog" goes with us everywhere. One day after leaving a restaurant, Emily decided puppy dog needed to go pee and poop, so she took it in the grass and held the puppy up to let it do its business. Grandma Lee handed Emily a diaper wipe, which Emily used on the puppy after he finished his business. Patrons leaving the restaurant stopped short to do a doubletake and laugh hysterically at the sight of a tiny toddler clumsily wiping down the backside of a stuffed animal.
- Our favorite videos are "The Aristocats", "Lady and the Tramp", "Harry the Dirty Dog", "Singing in the Rain" (select songs, only--and we dance along with an umbrella), "The Music Man" (especially "76 Trombones"), and "Mary Poppins". And of course, there's the Wiggles, which Emily never misses on tv...in the car on CD...and only occasionally on video.

I'm glad no one is around to see Uncle Jack laughing to himself after reading Mommy's writing about Emily and raising my little niece.
