Happy Birthday, Schraner Girls!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to cousins and sisters Elizabeth (now 3) and Kellie (now 15) in Scranton!!
Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch
HRH is learning to writer her letters in preschool. Here she writes her name without Mommy's help! She simultaneously bursts into song whenever she feels like it. And, she's sleeping with trains...multiple trains. Thomas the train (3 different ones), and now Emily the train (the green one) sleep in a basket in her bed, covered with a washcloth, er, tiny blanket. Too cute! Emily the Train eats beside Emily, has her own toothbrush, burps after drinking water (and apologizes), and pees on the potty.
Daddy has travelled the world, and recently spent 4 days in Seoul, Korea, Beijing and Shanghai, China, and Tokyo, Japan, where he barely had time to see anything. But here's a slideshow of Daddy and Emmy. Daddy and Emmy emailed funny photos of each other back and forth, thus the "right back atcha" photo.
When is David Jian Qun Arriving?
Everyone is asking when we'll get Qun Qun ("Chn Chn"), so here's the scoop.
Timeline for Qun Qun
- 8/10/07 - We send a "Letter of Intent" to China asking to adopt Qun Qun. The CCAA (Chinese adoption authority) will locate/pull last year's adoption paperwork (that we submitted for Madeleine) and move it from the Traditional adoption program to the Waiting Families program (special needs). There it will be translated and reviewed. Timeframe - 2-3 months.
- 8/27/07 - We receive a "preapproval" letter from the Chinese government to adopt...a mere formality.
- Meanwhile, in the states...we're waiting for our homestudy to be updated. The main hurdle is a month-long wait for a background check to prove we never abused a child. That should be done by this week, HOPEFULLY!! :D
- Once the homestudy update is finished, it's sent to China, and the CCAA moves us into the "Match Room" and formally match us with Qun Qun, like we were with Emily.
- Meanwhile, in the states...we drive 4-hours round-trip to Orlando and wait to be re-fingerprinted, so we can re-apply to adopt Qun Qun through the U.S. government. It's been almost a year since we did this, and thanks to aggressive lobbying by adoptive families, it's free to reapply, which saves us almost ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!
- A few days after matching us with Qun Qun, the CCAA issues a "Letter Seeking Confirmation from Adopter" (LOA) for us to immediately sign and return. This is the BIG ONE!!
- A few days later, the CCAA receives our LOA and issues Travel Approval (TA). Timeframe: 2-3 weeks.
- A few weeks later, WE LEAVE FOR CHINA!!! It's looking more like sometime in December. Qun Qun will be 2 years old by then, sigh! We'll miss another birthday...just like with Emily (she turned 1 in June, we travelled in July to adopt her).
