Day 14 and Onward

Hi all,

We've been busy! David's recuperating, with some days easier than others. We're entering the last phase of his recuperation with a hand-fed, soft food diet and the arm restraints. He's doing pretty well, still grumpy, but hopefully healing. He went through a scary 4 days of low-grade fevers last week that almost landed him in the doctor's office, but the fevers passed. We return to Gainesville for his post-op appointment on May 22nd, and if his palate has healed properly we can then go back to a regular diet.

Thanks to Miss Cindy, our GREAT speech therapist, speech is coming. He said "open", "pour", "dough", "more", "roll", "star", and "off" this week.

Sissy Emily keeps him busy. Here they are acting out Cinderella's story. The evil stepsisters have ripped Cinderella's dress (thus, the tears). Mommy's the fairy godmother (wand, magic, pumpkin, horses, etc.) and David is Cinderfella (Cinderella's male counterpart), much to Daddy's horror.

But Bruffie (as Emily calls him) likes to be changed into neat duds, too! Here they are seconds after being transformed for the Royal Ball. And then we waltz. We do this at least 5 times a day.

Emily is still spelling words using alphabet sign language, but she's also sounding out words in books! She did "music" and "stopping" the other night. We were reading Donald Crews books. He's an award-winning writer and illustrator of books on Carousels, boats, school buses, etc. Neat perspectives. I can't believe she's entering this next phase of her life...reading! In July we'll have been home with her for 3 years...and 6 months with Bruffie. Time flies by.

The Joys of Toddlerhood

Ah yes, everything's about eating, sleeping (not Mommy and Daddy), diapers, pretty dresses, dirty clothes (why are we always out of socks??), life in our minivan, cars, tractors, garbage trucks, fire trucks, trucks, trucks, TRUCKS!!, princesses, temper tantrums, picnics, exploring, little friends, the grandparents, hugs and kisses, and so much more. We've never been so happy. :)

And let's be sure and congratulate Scott, Melissa and Kate Braun for receiving Travel Approval to GO GET BABY BRUFFIE ADDISON!!! :D :D :D
