Mommy gets footie pjs for Valentines Day

Hi all,

Hope you had a Happy Valentines Day! February is a big month for us, with 4 out of 6 men in the family celebrating birthdays within 10 days of each other. So...Happy Birthday cousins Anthony, James, and Stephen. And Happy Birthday, Daddy! The kids had a blast at preschool making and exchanging valentines, so it was a busy few weeks!

Chinese New Year has come and gone, with several great celebrations. This year's Lion Dance had a new Baby Lion, manned by two young karate school students. It was precious, and the kids just loved it! And our little friend Ashley sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in Chinese and thrilled the crowd! Here are photos, along with shots of the kids at home.

David

We can feel David relaxing more into the family every day. After a year with us he now seeks me out daily for holding time, and runs his fingers through my hair. It's a lovely feeling, because I know he's finally attaching deeply to me. I can calm him down during new doctor appointments, which has been a major hurdle.

He still struggles with sensory issues daily, and was diagnosed with apnea and asthma by his 8th specialist (lung doctor). He's now on daily nebulizer treatments and is facing a series of tests to check the structure of his respiratory tract.

Emily

Em's doing well, having mastered the "kindergarten writing" style for her name (initial caps). The idea of Kindergarten scares her, poor thing! But we talk about it daily. And, the 4-year old classes will tour the elementary school across the street soon to prepare them for their major transition.

Em struggles with resentment over her brother's constant speech therapies and doctor appointments. Because of his special needs he seems to get all the attention, and I can't help her understand that he rarely enjoys a doctor visit. It's a heartbreaking struggle at times, so she and I spend "girl time" together each evening, which helps. Meanwhile, Daddy gets special "Bruffy time" with David, so it seems to be helping.

Happy Birthday, Sweetie! Kevin's still job hunting faithfully each day in spite of the horrible economy. And the highlight of this past weekend was escorting his little princess to "Cinderella's Wedding", a Disney princess gala created by a local high school drama club. So Sleeping Beauty wore a lip ring...Emily and girlfriend Summer really enjoyed themselves. Daddy wore a lovely suit and tie, and gave his tiny date a red rose that she held all afternoon. The girls tried on miniature glass slippers for Cinderella's prince. It was a lovely time.
